It’s 52 weeks in a year. OK. You
know that. A good step in maintaining good health is saying no once a week to
consuming any particular food, substances, or additive that will be detrimental
to your health. Let’s say, uumm, sugar in any form; refined, fructose, glucose,
sugar substitutes, honey, carbohydrates, etc, etc--a substance we as humans
consume much more than we need on a daily basis.
It’s in almost everything we eat
and arguably accounts for countless numbers of ailments and sicknesses. Being
conscious of not consuming it for 24 hours once a week won’t be an easy task. I’ve
tried it and it is no fun. After a few times of being mindful of it, I’ve
conquered the task and I don’t make up for it the next day. At the end of 52
weeks I’ll be able to look back and say, I did it. I’ll be proud of myself and
the next time I see my doctor and give those several vials of blood for a
complete and thorough check, surely the results will better than the last time.
Through trial and error, I’ve
become my own dietitian and personal trainer. The next ‘no’ day once a week for
me? No meat. Now that one is going to be
a challenge, but I know I can do it. It’s not going to kill me, rather just the
opposite; make me that much healthier and add time to my life in the years
ahead.
There is no second go ‘round in
this life God has given us. Learn to make the best of it. Optimizing your
health is the best thing you can do for yourself.
